2024 Year in review

Another year has flown by in the blink of an eye! Here’s a roundup of what kept me inspired and busy in 2024. From exciting exhibitions and awards to new projects and services, it’s been a year to remember.

Highlights of 2024

Photography exhibitions

The year began with the second exhibition of my Life in a Morning project. This time, it was part of the Reflections exhibition at the stunning Gallery@501 in Sherwood Park. I felt so fortunate to showcase my work in such a professional and welcoming space. The gallery staff did an incredible job of showcasing my photographs, and I’m deeply thankful for their dedication and effort.

Building on my first exhibition at Galerie CAVA in 2023, I submitted La vie en un matin to galleries across Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec, aiming to bring this project to new audiences. I was thrilled to see Moulin La Lorraine’s name appear on my call display in the spring—I had a feeling it would be good news. The art director shared that my work had been a coup de coeur for them and selected it for their 2025 collection. I can’t wait to visit Lac-Etchemin in March to present my photographs in such an inspiring historical setting.

In April 2024, I debuted a new exhibition, ÉcH2O, at Galerie CAVA. This project explored the many facets of water through diptychs that paired nature and childhood. ÉcH2O is a harmonious duality: the states of water alongside fleeting moments of childhood. From the beauty and fragility of water to the playful innocence of children, this exhibition captured the connection between water and life, nature and children—a discovery of water in all its forms.

Projects

At the start of the year, I joined a collective project with a fantastic group of like-minded documentary family photographers. It came at just the right time, pulling me out of a creative rut and reigniting my inspiration. I had so much fun working on this project, and I can’t wait to share the results with you in 2025.

In addition, I began a large-scale, long-term personal project focused on motherhood. So far, I’ve interviewed and photographed four mothers, and I’m excited to continue expanding this work. If you’re interested in sharing your experience, the process starts with answering some questions about your journey as a mother-to-be, mother, or grandmother. The more stories I gather, the richer this project will become. My ultimate goal is to create a new exhibition and potentially a book. Stay tuned for more updates in the new year, and sign up if you’d like to be involved!

New photography service

After two years of testing year-in-the-life photo sessions, I officially launched Heartfelt Chapters in the spring of 2024. Having photographed a few families during a pilot project, I loved the experience and was eager to offer this service to the wider public.

To truly understand the experience from a client’s perspective, I had my own family photographed throughout the year by another photographer. It was a great experience that allowed me to refine the service and answer all your questions about how it works for different types of families.

Awards

What a year! I’m beyond grateful to end 2024 ranked among the top 20 photographers worldwide, finishing in 14th place with Inspiration Photographers. My achievements include 11 awarded photos, two best collection awards, eight honorable mentions, and a nomination for Family Photographer Revelation of the Year. I’m so thankful to Inspiration Photographers, the judges, and the families who trusted me to capture their moments and gave me the creative freedom to bring these stories to life.
