2025 Year in review

This time of year, I like to pause, look back, and put together my little “annual report.” It’s my way of reflecting on what unfolded over the past twelve months and sharing it with you. It’s also a chance to bring forward the moments and projects that often stay behind the scenes because, let’s be honest, I’m not always the best at sharing stuff online.

So, here’s a look back at 2025.

Families

At the heart of my work are the families who invite me into their lives. I wouldn’t be a family photographer without the incredible people who trust me to document their everyday moments.

2025 Year in review | Thanks to the families

Whether it’s a single documentary family photo session, multiple sessions over the course of a year (like my Heartfelt Chapters program), or families who choose to share their stories through my personal projects, each of you plays a meaningful role in what I do.

Your trust goes far beyond photography. Many of you become friends, and you help me grow both as a person and as an artist. For that, I’m endlessly grateful. So, consider this a big, heartfelt thank you!

Photography exhibition

One of the major highlights of the year 2025 happened in early spring. In March, I flew to Quebec to present my Life in a Morning project in my native province. Showing this work at home made the experience both deeply meaningful and emotionally charged.

Along with the excitement came a few unexpected lessons. One thing I learned is that rock walls are much harder to work with than plywood. Can you believe that at least one series of images fell or slowly slid down every single week for the entire five-and-a-half-month exhibition? It’s a very good thing the director of Moulin La Lorraine had a coup de cœur for my work, because fixing an exhibition you don’t particularly love, week after week, might have been even more of a pain. Their team worked on it all summer long… Thank you so much, Andréane and everyone involved—you were incredible!

Beyond the technical challenges, the exhibition was emotional in the best possible way. So many people close to my heart came to the opening reception, which made the moment even more special. I ended up writing a full blog post about the experience (in French). If you’re curious, Google Translate will give you a good sense of it.

And if you’re a photographer wondering about travelling exhibitions or installation logistics, I’ve learned a lot over the past three years and would be happy to share. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Projects

While the out-of-province exhibition was a big part of the year, a lot of my energy went into long-term personal and collaborative projects.

Motherhood

Throughout 2025, I continued developing my motherhood project and refined its focus to explore the transformations women experience across their motherhood journey. Over the year, I interviewed 10 women, photographed six of them, and experimented with self-portraiture as part of the storytelling process.

The making of a conceptual image. Stay tuned for more images to be shared in 2026!

From the very beginning, I knew this would be a long-term project—and I was right. Finding participants, coordinating interviews, imagining and planning photo sessions, scheduling, photographing, and then carefully selecting images that reflect each woman’s story takes a lot of time and intention.

That said, the learning has been immense. The stories women share with me are humbling, eye-opening, and deeply human. They call for compassion, resonate on so many levels, and have allowed me to connect with truly incredible women. Mothers are strong. They go through so much. This project feels like an important way to honour that strength and to show how having children profoundly reshapes our lives.

Creatively, I’ve also been stepping outside my comfort zone, experimenting with new photographic genres and techniques and slowly getting closer to the vision I’ve had from the start. There’s still work to do, and I can’t do it alone.

If you feel called to share your motherhood story with me and with the world, I’d love to hear from you. Head this way to get the ball rolling.

PRESENT

This zine PRESENT is the result of a year-long collaboration with like-minded documentary family photographers

In parallel to my personal work, collaboration played an important role in 2025 as well.

In 2024, I worked with a group of talented, like-minded documentary family photographers from across North America and Europe. That collaboration came to life in May 2025 with the release of PRESENT, a collective zine exploring parenthood, both behind and in front of the camera.

Through this project, we reflected on the role photography plays in our family lives and found common ground in our shared experiences of parenthood. The zine became a space to share those stories and perspectives with a wider audience.

On a more personal note, the process itself was especially important to me. I went from a creative rut to feeling deeply inspired again—and had a lot of fun creating images that were both humorous and meaningful.

All profits from zine sales were donated to support an artist parent through a residency program with Mothra, a Toronto-based project.

Products and services

Beyond creative projects, 2025 also brought some changes to my offerings. Towards the end of the year, I introduced a new line of wall art: beautiful gallery frames designed to showcase your story while being more accessible than my locally sourced frames, which I continue to offer as well. I’ll be happy to show you samples during your consultation.

Awards and recognition

As the year progressed, there were also moments of recognition that I’m incredibly grateful for.

Once again, I was honoured to serve as a jury member for a photo competition in the family photography category—this time for the Bride Association.

In 2025, I participated exclusively in Inspiration Photographers competitions. I finished the year in the top 20 family photographers worldwide and tied for first place in Canada, with 9 awarded photos, 3 awarded collections, 4 honorable mentions, and a nomination for the Golden Lens Awards.

It’s a beautiful way to close the year, and a reminder of how important it is to keep learning, refining, and pushing my storytelling forward.

Welcome, 2026!

As I step into a new year, I feel grounded, inspired, and ready to keep creating through personal projects, collaborations, and the stories you trust me to tell.
