Part 11 of 12
My bilingual Life in a Morning exhibition presents 104 black and white photographs with written blurbs about the morning routine of 12 girls and women aged 0 to 102 years old. It shows the differences and similarities between the routine of each person depending on their age, status and occupation. It’s a representation of how life evolves in a morning and how certain habits remain throughout life.
I wrote the blurbs as if the person I photographed was talking. Here’s the story of a 91-year-old woman.

Mon exposition bilingue La vie en un matin présente 104 photographies en noir et blanc accompagnées de textes descriptifs à propos de la routine matinale de 12 filles et femmes âgées de 0 à 102 ans. On y découvre les différences et les ressemblances entre la routine de chaque personne selon son âge, sa situation familiale et son emploi du temps. On voit comment la vie évolue en un matin et comment certaines habitudes demeurent tout au long de l’existence.
J’ai écrit les textes comme si c’était la personne que j’ai photographiée qui parlait. Voici l’histoire d’une femme de 91 ans.
91 years old / 91 ans
Life has been good to me. I can’t move as easily as I used to, but my husband and I are still very independent and live in our ancestral home. We’re lucky that some of our children stay close by and help us with house and farm work. Our neighbours will also gladly lend us a hand with certain chores and occasionally drive us around town. I enjoy cooking a good lunch for our son and welcoming him every day.
La vie a été bonne pour moi. Je ne peux pas me déplacer aussi facilement qu’avant, mais mon mari et moi sommes encore très autonomes et vivons toujours dans notre maison ancestrale. Nous sommes chanceux que plusieurs de nos enfants habitent proche et nous aident avec l’entretien de la maison et de la ferme. Nos voisins nous prêtent également main forte pour certaines autres tâches et nous conduisent en ville à l’occasion. J’aime cuisiner un bon repas pour notre fils qui vient manger avec nous chaque midi.
