Naturally-dyed Easter eggs

For naturally-dyed Easter eggs, follow a recipe like this one to get vibrant colours using natural ingredients such as onion peels, turmeric or purple cabbage. To add a leaf imprint, place a leaf on the undyed egg. Wrap it in a nylon stocking and let it sit in the dye for at least 1 hour (overnight is best).

Pineapple parrot

For some reason, pineapples make me think of spring. I wonder if that’s because it was the only time we had them at my house when I was a child.

Anyway, while this craft isn’t exactly kid-friendly, it’s definitely worth a try if you enjoy carving. I had originally planned to create it for my kids’ Hawaiian-themed birthday party a few years back, but as usual, I had not given myself enough time. So, I tackled it a few days later on a pressure-free weekend, and I love the result. Here’s a YouTube tutorial that will guide you through carving your own pineapple parrot.
